I think the reason why dance is as old as humanity is that it is a symbol of human existence, the meaning of life.... I've often heard: "the dance of life". It's a connection that deeply affects me. The instrument that dance speaks is the primary, fundamental instrument of human existence, of human living. The human body holds in its memory all the events of life, death and love.... learning to dance or learning to live, the principles are the same.

It is said that Martha Graham's importance to dance is the same as Pablo Picasso's to painting. I totally agree, there's nothing more to add to that.
